Quilting classes begin Jan. 4 in the Grossmont Adult School program. Karen Brixner's class at Helix High School in La Mesa starts 1/4 at 6:30 pm in Rm. 510. Anna Lancia has classes on Tues. am (1/5)at Foothills in El Cajon, Wed. pm (1/6) at the Santee Civic Center in Santee and Thurs. am (1/7) at Foothills again. Viewers' Choice winners at the 18th "Kaleidoscope of Quilts" show held Oct. 17, 2009 were 1st Place: Suzannah Richardson for "Tea Ceremony," 2nd Place: Eleanor Sherrill for "Kiku," and 3rd Place: Karen Brixner for "Quilters' Hideaway-Rosarito Beach." Winners received gift certificates donated by Memory Lane quilt shop in Santee.

Viewers' Choice winners for the Postcard Challenge were also announced at the show. 1st Place: Agnes Moore, "If You've Got a Broom, Ride It," 2nd Place: Rita Anaya, "Catalina," 3rd Place: Lynn Cleary, "Log Cabin." Gift certificates were also awarded to these winners.
